Quick answer: The kei JB64 (660 cc R06A turbo) and the 1.5 L JB74 (K15B) share many interior parts, some lights and many chassis design features, but engine parts, bumpers, wheel-arch flares, front panels, wheels and tyres are usually different. Match the part number or make sure the listing names your exact model code (JB64, JB74, JB23, JB43 or JC74).

Japanese eBay sellers list a huge range of Jimny parts, but many are made for a Jimny that was never sold new in Australia. Japan gets two versions, the 660 cc kei JB64 and the 1.5 L JB74 that the rest of the world simply calls the Jimny, and plenty of parts don't swap between them. Same cheerful face, very different engine bay.
Whether you've imported a kei Jimny or you're shopping in Japan for a local one, this guide shows what's shared, what isn't, and how to search so the part fits first time.

The five-door: JC74
The five-door Jimny XL (JC74) launched in Australia in December 2023, with deliveries from early 2024. Japan has sold it as the Jimny Nomade since April 2025. It has the JB74's 1.5 L engine and the same width, but it's 340 mm longer, so doors, rear body panels, interior trim and floor mats are its own.
Which parts are shared, and which aren't?
This is the question that causes the most wrong orders. As a general guide:
Usually different between kei and export Jimnys
- Everything engine-related: oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, belts, turbo parts. The engines are completely different.
- Bumpers, wheel-arch flares and front panels. The JB74 is wider.
- Wheels and tyres. The JB64 runs 16-inch wheels from the factory and the JB74 runs 15-inch, so don't assume a "Jimny" tyre listing suits both.
Often shared or very similar
- Many interior parts, such as switches, some trim and the cabin layout
- Some lights
- Many chassis and suspension design features, although part numbers can still differ
"Often shared" is not "always shared". Match the part number, or check that the listing names your exact model code.
Not sure which one you own? The chassis code is at the start of your frame number, for example JB64W-123456. See how to read a Japanese model code.
The parts you'll buy most often
- Oil filter. Make sure it's for your engine (R06A, K15B, K6A or M13A). → Suzuki Jimny oil filters
- Engine air filter. Worth checking more often if you drive on dusty tracks. → Suzuki Jimny engine air filters
- Cabin air filter. → Suzuki Jimny cabin air filters
- Spark plugs. Different for each engine. → Suzuki Jimny spark plugs
- Front brake pads. → Suzuki Jimny front brake pads
- Wiper blades. → Suzuki Jimny wiper blades
Popular first upgrades
- Floor mats. Jimnys see mud, sand and wet dogs, so all-weather mats are a common first purchase. Check left- or right-hand drive and the model code, as kei, three-door export and five-door mats differ. → Suzuki Jimny floor mats
- LED headlight bulbs. Check the rules before you fit them. In Australia, LED replacement globes for halogen headlights are generally not ADR approved, which is why many are sold as "off-road use only", and fitting them for road use can leave you open to a defect notice. If your Jimny has halogen headlights, check with your state's road authority or a licensed inspector first. → Suzuki Jimny LED headlight bulbs
Why buy Jimny parts from Japan at all?
Japan has a huge Jimny aftermarket, because the kei Jimny has been on sale there for decades. That shows up on eBay in two ways:
- Japan-only accessories and styling parts, often designed for the JB64 first. Many have JB74 versions too, so check the listing.
- Used genuine parts from Japanese dismantlers, useful for older JB23 and JB43 models.
For basic service parts on an export JB74 or JB43, local suppliers may well be cheaper once shipping is included. For Japan-only items and parts for kei Jimnys, eBay is often the easiest place to look. (Before you do, it's worth a skim of 7 myths about buying car parts on eBay.)
A quick checklist before you buy
- Know your code: JB64, JB74, JB23, JB43 or JC74.
- Engine parts? Match the engine, not just "Jimny".
- Body parts? Check that the listing says kei (JB64/JB23), Sierra/export (JB74/JB43) or five-door (JC74).
- Compare the total cost, with shipping and GST.

FAQ
What is the difference between the Jimny JB64 and JB74?
The JB64 is Japan's 660 cc turbo (R06A) kei car with a narrow body and 175/80R16 factory tyres. The JB74 is the 1.5 L (K15B) Jimny Sierra in Japan and simply the Jimny in export markets, with wheel-arch flares, bigger bumpers and 195/80R15 tyres.
Do JB64 parts fit a JB74 Jimny?
Engine parts, bumpers, flares, front panels, wheels and tyres usually don't. Many interior parts, some lights and many chassis design features are often shared, but part numbers can still differ, so match the part number or model code.
Do three-door Jimny parts fit the five-door Jimny XL?
The JC74 Jimny XL has the JB74's 1.5 L engine and the same width but is 340 mm longer, so doors, rear body panels, interior trim and floor mats are its own.
Are LED headlight bulbs legal on a Jimny in Australia?
LED replacement globes for halogen headlights are generally not ADR approved in Australia, which is why many are sold as "off-road use only", and fitting them for road use can leave you open to a defect notice. Check with your state's road authority or a licensed inspector first.
