Quick answer: Buy kei truck parts by the chassis code at the start of your frame number (for example DA63T for a Carry, S500P for a Hijet or HA4 for an Acty), because each code points to a generation and usually an engine with its own filters, plugs and belts. Search eBay with the chassis code plus the part, try the engine code too, and send the seller your frame number for anything beyond basic service parts.

Ordering parts for a kei truck by "Suzuki Carry" alone is a fast way to get the wrong filter. The Carry, Hijet and Acty each went through several generations and engines, so the chassis code on your frame number is what really matters. Small truck, surprisingly large family tree.
Most kei trucks working on Australian and US farms, vineyards and bush blocks are private imports from Japan, so local parts counters often can't help. This guide shows you how to identify your truck, which parts wear out first, and how to search eBay for the right one.
Find your chassis code first
Every kei truck has a frame number that starts with its chassis code, for example DA63T-123456. You'll find it on the export certificate, on a plate in the cab and stamped on the frame. The code tells you the generation and, in most cases, the engine.
The codes you're most likely to see:
| Truck | Chassis code | Years (approx.) | Engine |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suzuki Carry | DA52T | 1999–2001 | F6A |
| Suzuki Carry | DA62T | 2001–2002 | K6A |
| Suzuki Carry | DA63T | 2002–2013 | K6A |
| Suzuki Carry | DA16T | 2013 onwards | R06A |
| Daihatsu Hijet | S200P, S210P | 1999–2007 | EF |
| Daihatsu Hijet | S201P, S211P | 2007–2014 | KF |
| Daihatsu Hijet | S500P, S510P | 2014 onwards | KF |
| Honda Acty | HA3, HA4 | 1988–1999 | E07A |
| Honda Acty | HA6, HA7 | 1999–2009 | E07Z |
| Honda Acty | HA8, HA9 | 2009–2021 | E07Z |
Three things to note:
- Same size, different engines. Every kei engine is 660 cc or less, but these are different designs with different filters, plugs and belts. Never search for just "kei truck".
- The Carry changed engine mid-generation. The DA52T and DA62T look almost identical, but the DA62T has the newer K6A. The Hijet did the same in late 2007, when the EF gave way to the KF and the code changed to S201P/S211P.
- 2WD or 4WD. For the Hijet and Acty, the second code in each pair is the 4WD version (S210P, S510P, HA4, HA7, HA9). Check your paperwork to be sure.
Model years are a guide only, because production changeovers didn't line up neatly with calendar years. Our guide to reading a Japanese model code explains where to find the code and what the rest of it means.
Why your truck's age matters
Both Australia and the US have a 25-year path for older imports, and in both countries the age is counted from the date of manufacture, not the model year.
- In Australia, vehicles at least 25 years old can use the concessional "older vehicles" import approval instead of the full SEVS process. Registration is still up to each state and territory.
- In the US, a vehicle at least 25 years old (by month and year of manufacture) can be imported without meeting federal safety standards. In late 2026 that means trucks built around late 2001 or earlier.
So many imported trucks are older models: the DA52T and earlier Carrys, early S200P/S210P Hijets, and HA3/HA4 or early HA6/HA7 Actys. Newer trucks also turn up in Australia through other import pathways, so always go by your own frame number.
On an older truck, two things follow:
- Rubber and seals. Hoses, belts, wiper rubbers and brake parts on a 25-year-old truck may well be original. Plan to replace them soon after it arrives.
- Discontinued parts. Some genuine parts for older trucks are no longer made. Japanese dismantlers selling on eBay are often the best source of used originals.
Registration and road-use rules for kei trucks vary between Australian states and territories, and between US states. Check with your local transport authority before you buy a truck, not after.
The parts you'll buy most often
Each page below links to eBay listings for that part. Check the listing against your chassis or engine code before you buy.
Suzuki Carry
- Oil filters · Engine air filters · Cabin air filters
- Spark plugs · Front brake pads · Wiper blades
- LED headlight bulbs · Floor mats
Daihatsu Hijet
- Oil filters · Engine air filters · Cabin air filters
- Spark plugs · Front brake pads · Wiper blades
- LED headlight bulbs · Floor mats
Honda Acty
Honda ended Acty production in April 2021, so there is no new model to carry parts forward. For an older Acty, used genuine parts from Japan are well worth searching for.
Working-truck tips
- Air filter. Farm and dirt-road work means a lot of dust. In dusty conditions, check the air filter more often than the manual suggests.
- Brakes. A small truck carrying a full tray works its brakes hard. Inspect the front pads and rear drums regularly.
- Lights. If you fit LED bulbs, check they're road-legal where you live and aim them properly.
- Manuals. Most imports come with a Japanese owner's manual. English versions exist for some models. → English owner's manuals for Japanese imports
How to search eBay for kei truck parts
- Search the chassis code and the part, for example "DA63T oil filter" or "HA4 brake pads".
- Search the engine code too ("K6A spark plugs"). Many engine parts are shared with kei cars that use the same engine, which widens your options.
- Send your frame number to the seller for anything beyond basic service parts. Many Japanese sellers can check it against the maker's parts catalogue.
- Compare the landed cost. Add international shipping and any import GST or duty, then compare with a local kei truck specialist.

FAQ
What engine is in my Suzuki Carry?
It depends on the chassis code: the DA52T has the F6A, the DA62T and DA63T the K6A, and the DA16T the R06A. The DA52T and DA62T look almost identical, but the DA62T has the newer K6A.
How do I tell if my Hijet or Acty is 4WD?
For the Hijet and Acty, the second code in each pair is the 4WD version: S210P, S211P and S510P for the Hijet, and HA4, HA7 and HA9 for the Acty. Check your paperwork to be sure.
Where is the chassis code on a kei truck?
It's at the start of the frame number, which you'll find on the export certificate, on a plate in the cab and stamped on the frame.
Can I import a kei truck into Australia under the 25-year rule?
Vehicles at least 25 years old, counted from the date of manufacture, can use the concessional "older vehicles" import approval instead of the full SEVS process. Registration is still up to each state and territory, so check with your local transport authority before you buy.
Are Honda Acty parts still available?
Honda ended Acty production in April 2021, and some genuine parts for older trucks are no longer made. Japanese dismantlers selling used originals on eBay are often the best source.
